Pemba Eco Lodge

Overview

Overview

Pemba Eco Lodge is an eco-friendly resort on Shamiani Island near Kengeja, in the far south of Pemba Island, built from recycled boats and natural local materials. Each bungalow has a secluded spot in a large garden with direct beach access, is raised on stilts to catch the sea breeze, and is reached by a small ladder. Rooms have four-poster beds under mosquito nets and rainwater showers. The on-site restaurant serves organic meals made with wild-caught seafood and vegetables grown in the lodge's own garden, and there is a bar built from recycled wood.

Rooms

Room types include a Budget Double Room sharing a bungalow and a Deluxe Room, both with shared bathroom facilities, garden and sea views, balconies and terraces.

Amenities

Snorkeling and kayaking gear is provided for exploring the surrounding mangroves; diving trips and Swahili massage can be arranged on request. The lodge has a restaurant, a bar, free private parking and free Wifi is not offered in-room (no internet access on site).

Location & Nearby Attractions

The lodge is roughly 2.9 miles from the centre of Kengeja and is reached by a roughly 45-minute drive from Pemba's Wawi Airport, or about a 30-minute drive from the ferry port at Mkoani.
